Abstract
The research unit “Centre for Aerospace Science and Technologies” (CAST) was created in 1994 by agroup of six aerospace engineers. Now the Research Center develops studies in Energy, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a wide spectrum of areas, from Astrodynamics to Technological Forecasting. In 2013 the name of the unit has been changed accordingly, becoming “Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies” (C-MAST).
* OBJECTIVES
C-MAST promotes the academic research environment in its scientific domains at UBI and identifies its objectives as
- development of consistent sustainable high level research in its principal domains of impact;
- keeping and development of multi-generation research team involving early stage researchers from bachelor students to post-doc fellows;
- keeping high level of international collaboration;
- increasing cooperation with industrial partners and technology transfer;
- enhancing the visibility and international recognition of performed research.
* RESEARCH STRUCTURE
The C-MAST research activities are organized in two research groups, AeroMaS - Aerospace Materials and Structures and EnerMeF - Energy and Mechanics of Fluids, and two cross-cutting thematic lines, Space Systems and Technology Forecasting& Systems Engineering.
The principal research directions of the groups are as follows:
* AeroMaS - AEROSPACE MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES
AeroMaS performs research on materials and structures for aerospace applications with extension to several applications for other purposes.
