Abstract
Over the next five years, CIPsi’s objectives are focused on enhancing research quality, transparency, and societal impact. We aim to achieve four strategic objectives:
i. Strengthening Research Capacity: Our primary goal is to enhance our research capacity by investing in infrastructure and providing comprehensive support to our research teams. This includes assisting with grant applications, budgeting, ethical considerations, and dissemination of findings.
ii. Fostering Professional Development: We are committed to nurturing our researchers' professional growth through targeted training programs, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities.
iii. Promoting Research Transparency: We are dedicated to upholding integrity and transparency in scientific research. We will adhere to ethical guidelines, ensure reproducibility of findings, and engage with stakeholders to communicate our research effectively.
iv. Increasing Dissemination of Findings: We will maximize the impact of our research by sharing findings through various channels, including publications, conferences, and public engagement activities.
CIPsi is led by a Director and supported by a Board of Directors and a science management team. Our center currently comprises a network of labs and research groups that investigate a wide range of topics in psychology. Each lab, led by an elected coordinator, encompasses several research groups, each with its own Principal Investigator (PI).
Despite our successes, we must address challenges and opportunities in the coming years. This includes reevaluating our lab structure to align with emerging research priorities and prepare for the turnover of senior researchers by providing opportunities for younger researchers. As such, we are discussing new organizational models that may better accommodate cross-cutting themes and foster collaboration and innovation across different areas of expertise, while supporting early-career researchers' professional development and career advancement.
Central to this discussion is transitioning from the current model to a broader research domain model centered around overarching cross-cutting themes. Within this new organizational framework, we emphasize the role of research groups as hubs for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mentorship. This approach will facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and provide early-career researchers valuable opportunities to develop their projects and assume leadership roles within CIPsi.
Our activity plan and proposed restructuring represent a forward-thinking perspective for the future of CIPsi. By discussing new organizational models and strategies, we aim to create an environment that is conducive to collaboration, innovation, and excellence in research. With our highly motivated team, we are confident that we can rise to the challenges and opportunities ahead and continue to make meaningful contributions to psychology and beyond.
