Abstract

CinTurs aims to establish itself as an R&D Unit of excellence in tourism and hospitality. During 2025-29, CinTurs will pursue its mission through six primary objectives and planned initiatives, namely: 1.Consolidating Collaborative Research Environment: Emphasising interdisciplinary research, encouraging diverse academic backgrounds among team members, fostering collaborations with other research units, and promoting partnerships. More internal and informal networking events will be organised to foster CinTurs’ collaborative research environment and promoting scientific culture. CinTurs will ensure gender balance in all its coordination bodies. 2.Advancing Knowledge through High-Quality Publications and Research Projects: Maintaining rigorous admission standards for new members, stimulating research output through rewards and funding, recruiting additional researchers, increasing the number of PhD students, and facilitating research training and networking. 3.Strengthening International Collaborations: Hosting webinars and conferences with renowned international researchers, expanding European research networks, supporting members' participation in international events, and maintaining an open-door policy for visiting researchers. Several international conferences are already planned. 4.Continued Support for Advanced Training: Developing annual training plans based on members' needs, offering specialized research method training, supporting doctoral network initiatives, organizing seminars and webinars, and involving undergraduate and postgraduate students in research projects. 5.Enhancing Industry Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer: Co-organizing industry symposiums and seminars, promoting industry involvement in research projects, encouraging PhD students to collaborate with non-academic institutions, initiating internal project calls in partnership with industry and valuing consultancy projects. 6.Boosting Implementation of Societally Relevant Actions: Organizing knowledge transfer sessions for decision-makers, providing professional development opportunities for researchers, and increasing outreach activities to benefit society. CinTurs also plans to design new proposals for non-academic chairs, allowing the recruitment of PhD researchers for permanent positions. CinTurs will maintain its intensive communication activities with its researchers. The expected outcomes include a cohesive, multidisciplinary, gender-balanced and inclusive research team, an increase in projects and publications with external collaboration, a rise in high-quality publications, stronger international partnerships, improved research training, stronger links with UAlg ’s courses, more mentored students, improved industry collaborations, increased societal impact through outreach activities, and more researchers into permanent positions.
