Abstract

The Centre for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC) comprises three groups, organized into 10 research subgroups: In the 'Between Languages Group - Variation, Translation and Learning,' the themes of Linguistic Variation, Translation and Terminology and Languages and Learning are developed. In the 'Between Cultures Group - Cultural Hermeneutics,' themes related to Globalisation and Identities, Culture Industries and Mass Culture and Gender and Performance are explored. In the 'Between Texts Group - Literary Hermeneutics,' the themes are: Mythographies: Themes and Variations; Entregenres: Literature and Hybridism; Itineraries: Memories, Images, Transfers; Humanism, Diaspora and Science. The CLLC aims to enhance cohesion by fostering transversal practices that facilitate dialogue among its various groups. A central theme that serves as a gravitational pole will emphasise the digital migration currently shaping contemporary societies and practices. This theme has been chosen for its cultural significance and demands new literacies and the imperative for the Humanities to critically engage with the ongoing shift to digital platforms. Common denominators across these diverse CLLC endeavours include continuing to build upon ongoing projects while introducing new proposals and in-depth explorations: -Thematic Deepening: Each project delves deeper into digital studies by developing the respective thematic area. This exercise will involve integrated researchers, doctoral candidates and relevant collaborators. -Interdisciplinary Dialogues: The organisation of congresses, colloquiums, and seminars, particularly the biennial CLLC interdisciplinary congress. -Networking Initiatives: Efforts are directed towards creating, developing and consolidating national and international networks, fostering exchanges to deepen and strengthen research outcomes. -Collaborative Dynamics: Regular seminars among group members are implemented to encourage joint practices that enrich members’ academic journeys. -Publication Strategies: The dissemination of research findings is prioritised through the publication of articles in national and international journals and the creation of books reflecting the CLLC work. The commitment to sustaining periodic journals initiated by the Centre, along with the establishment of the Cultural Studies Journal, contributes to the continuous dissemination of our scholarly work. -Engagement Beyond Academia: There is a concerted effort to intensify collaboration with non-academic institutions in the realms of Humanities, Arts and Culture. This includes entities open to knowledge exchange and sharing within the broader societal context. In summary, CLLC's strategy involves a holistic approach to research, collaboration and dissemination, with a particular focus on addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the extraordinary digital transformation in contemporary culture and society.
