Abstract

CITTA, under the banner of "Fostering City Transitions," charts its strategic trajectory for 2025-2029, poised to uphold its position as a leading European research hub. With a steadfast commitment to influencing sustainable urban metamorphosis, CITTA pledges to address critical challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequality through innovation and foresight. Central to its vision is the promise of cultivating an impact-driven, innovative, and supportive research ecosystem, marked by targeted action-research strategies in urban planning, transport planning, and environmental policy. Emphasizing academic and professional development, CITTA offers prestigious educational programs and a new CITTA-Reach Platform to nurture young researchers and underrepresented groups. Innovation underscores CITTA's operational ethos, exemplified by the establishment of the CITTA-Analytics Lab and other cutting-edge research facilities. Through effective governance structures and interdisciplinary collaboration, CITTA seeks to foster a culture of change both internally and externally. Strategic partnerships with academic, industrial, and creative sectors enrich its research ecosystem, while initiatives like the International CITTA Conference and open science practices ensure broad dissemination of knowledge. Looking ahead, CITTA commits to promoting rewarding career paths, gender equality, and social inclusion, epitomizing its roadmap for an urban transition towards a sustainable, resilient, equitable, and inclusive future.
