Abstract

CBIOS is committed to reinforcing its position as a recognized research center specialized in natural products targeting cancer, metabolic diseases, and skin health. Through the integration of fundamental research, translational applications, and clinical practice, we intend to impact the health and well-being of the Lusophone community and beyond. Our 2025-2029 strategy is underpinned by outstanding: - FUNDAMENTAL SCIENCE - We aim to be at the forefront of discovering and testing new molecules and ingredients of natural origin to ensure their safety and effectiveness, pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge. - TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH - Our focus is on turning laboratory discoveries into real-world health solutions, and developing innovative medicines and health products that can change lives. Strategic industry partnerships with leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies will be pursued, securing that our discoveries move swiftly from bench to bedside. - CLINICAL RESEARCH - We aim to implement evidence-based practices and to validate the effectiveness of new treatments, ensuring they meet the highest standards. By working closely with hospitals, healthcare providers and patient associations we will strengthen clinical partnerships to guarantee that our breakthroughs reach patients and make a real difference in their lives. CBIOS is deeply engaged in assuming a global position with high societal impact. Our strategic partnerships span continents and cultures, particularly within the Lusophone community, where we're strengthening ties with academic and research institutions in Africa and Brazil to foster a truly global exchange of knowledge and resources. We aim to improve community health and well-being through: - EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH - Through workshops, open-access initiatives, and community health programs, designed to enhance health literacy and promote well-being across communities, leveraging our strong networks in Lusophone countries. - OPEN ACCESS TO KNOWLEDGE - We believe in the democratization of science, making all our research findings accessible through open-access platforms. CBIOS will continue to develop the next generation of scientists and health professionals through robust and innovative ADVANCED TRAINING: from MSc and PhD programs to customized training activities, we strive to provide a strong foundation for scientific careers. The achievement of these goals relies on a dedicated team. CBIOS is actively encouraging an inclusive collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives and supports both young and established researchers.
