Abstract
Research in the CIMA in the period 2025-2029 will develop mainly, but not exclusively, in the following areas:
A. In Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems it is underlined
• Fractional Boundary Value Problems
• Advancing Numerical Simulation and Mathematical Modeling
• Generalizations in directional curvatures
• Nonconvex differential inclusions and optimal control
• Dynamics and information
• Discrete non-autonomous dynamical systems and iteration of bimodal maps
• Flow of an interfacial traveling water wave
• Complex networks
• Numerical Approximation for Vector Variational Problems
B: Contributions to the advancement of Logic, Algebra and Geometry :
• Characterization of agency and normative concepts, through modal logic
• Logic, algebra and applications
• Modelling the Dynamics of Beliefs
• Jordan type and minimal free resolutions of Artinian Gorenstein algebras
• Asymptotic properties of homological invariants
• Geometry with a fundamental differential system
C. On Stochastic Processes and Statistics the following themes are studied :
• Optimization problems
• Application of LoRa Systems
• Advances in recurrent event analysis
• Animal Growth Stochastic Differential Equation (SDE) Models
• Population growth and harvesting in randomly varying environments using SDE and profit optimization for harvested populations:
• Empowering Research Across Multidisciplinary Fields: Navigating Complex Data Landscapes with Statistical Modelling
• Structuring genotype x environment interaction and Data Analysis
• Analysis of Temporal Patterns: Application to Epidemiological Data
• Non-Gaussian analysis and its applications
• Risk of Extreme Environmental Disasters
• Statistical Inverse Problems
• Statistics models in Health
International cooperation will be maintained with researchers around the world, with an important presence of CIMA’s members in national and international events, through communications, presence in various committees, and participation in several editorial positions in many international journals.
In the next period, the policy of establishing mobility protocols for CIMA researchers and doctoral students will continue.
To stimulate scientific culture and the pleasure of mathematical research among young students, CIMA intends to maintain in 2025-2029, an annual program of 6 Initiation to Scientific Research scholarships, aimed at students in the 1st Cycle and 3 Master's scholarships per year.
CIMA will continue collaborating closely with the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at the University of Évora, participating in the weekly Doctoral Seminar.
The contracting of 2 Postdoctoral fellowships each year will allow us to achieve several objectives:
• The rejuvenation of the team of integrated researchers of CIMA;
• Contribute to the development of the research career of young doctorates;
• Improve several CIMA bibliometric and scientific indicators.
