Abstract
CEOS.PP is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) endeavours, offering specialized services, and conducting advanced training initiatives. The centre aims to contribute actively to Portugal's scientific system and higher education landscape while expanding its international footprint. To achieve these objectives, CEOS.PP has delineated 4 strategic goals:
Goal 1- Enhance Societal Engagement and Knowledge Transfer:
The centre seeks to strengthen interaction with society and facilitate seamless knowledge transfer. It plans to increase science-based services, implement and internationalize the digital incubator, develop observatories, and foster innovation through partnerships with business entities and social economy bodies.
Goal 2 - Maintain and Enhance Reference Research:
CEOS prioritizes rigorous and innovative multidisciplinary research. It aims to increase participation in funded projects, promote Open Science, support researchers, attract scientific events, and enhance international visibility and collaboration.
Goal 3 - Foster Professional Advancement and Research Excellence:
CEOS aims to nurture researchers' professional growth and uphold a culture of research excellence. It plans to engage young researchers, enhance involvement in PhD and Masters' programs, strengthen researchers' profiles, and cultivate a dynamic research culture.
Goal 4 - Uphold Ethical Principles and Promote Social Accountability, Diversity, and Inclusivity:
CEOS's fundamental values are ethics, social accountability, diversity, and inclusivity. The centre aims to promote equity, ethical conduct, and social responsibility through science while fostering open communication, transparency, and inclusive leadership.
From 2025 to 2029, CEOS.PP will focus on applied transdisciplinary problem-solving research, aiming for national and international recognition. It will prioritize a human resource strategy to support scientific careers and retain young talent. Through planned initiatives, it seeks to strengthen its presence in both public and private sectors, achieve excellence in multidisciplinary research, and solidify its status as a national and international reference centre.
