Abstract

The mission of the Transdisciplinary Research Center in Education and Development (CITED) is to promote a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the complex interactions established among the three axes of intervention and research: Education, Professional Development and Educational Technologies; Territory, Culture and Arts; and Citizenship, Contexts and Public Policies. In this sense, CITED aims to scientifically explore the multiple connections between these axes, seeking innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. To achieve this, CITED integrates research processes that foster innovation, aiming to generate tangible impact on educational and social development. Through interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects, CITED aims, for the period 2025-2029, to expand knowledge in fundamental areas of education and development, establishing a connection with regional and national territories to influence educational, social, and cultural policies. Additionally, the center is committed to supporting researchers at all stages of their careers, from encouraging and training young researchers to supporting senior researchers. The objectives of CITED for 2025-2029 are as follows: Stimulate transdisciplinary research, promoting collaboration across various fields of knowledge, which include Education, Technology, Culture, Arts, Citizenship, and Public Policies, in order to develop innovative solutions to contemporary social and educational challenges. Establish collaborative partnerships with research institutions, civil society organizations, and governmental entities to drive transdisciplinary research and facilitate the implementation of innovative policies and practices that promote social and educational development. Facilitate the transfer of scientific knowledge, both nationally and internationally, through the sharing of research results, collaborations in international networks, and the implementation of pilot projects developed in partnership with educational and social entities with social impact. Promote the training of highly qualified human resources, providing guidance and support in the development of research studies leading to obtaining doctorates and master's degrees in the areas of CITED's activity. The organization of CITED is structured according to FCT rules and comprises the following management and monitoring bodies: the Coordination Board composed of three researchers supported by three interface members in the three research axes of CITED, the Scientific Council, and an External Advisory Board composed by 4 International members. With a transdisciplinary team of researchers with complementary skills, CITED is committed to driving educational and social innovation by investigating the complex connections between various domains to address current challenges.
