Abstract

Since its creation, CITER has stood out for conceiving an investigative practice and an epistemological model that integrates Theology and the different fields of knowledge that deal with religious issues, identified as Religious Studies. This has been done through four major questions, allocated to three specific areas of research: Religious Reconfigurations (RR); Spirituality as way of life (SWL); Public Theology (PT) (see 5.1). Our planned activities for 202529 can be grouped into 4 major interdisciplinary scientific contributions to current debates on Theology and Religious Studies: 1.Archaeology of the discursive practices in Theology and Religious Studies (RR1): to systematise an interdisciplinary model between Theology and Religious Studies based on an archaeological exercise on the reasons for their separation and on new factors for their rapprochement, due to the emergence of new mediations and articulations in the religious and spiritual realms 2.Religious reconfigurations (RR2): to mobilise interdisciplinary resources in order to identify the new dynamics of “visible religion“ (cf.Campiche) and new processes of religious and spiritual identification in the context of a post-secular society. RR1 and RR2 are a subdivision of the same issue 3.Spirituality as a way of life (SWL): to deepen the inter- and transdisciplinary dialogue about spirituality as a way of life, especially in 4 fields: Spirituality and aesthetics; Spirituality and health; Spirituality and sport; Political spirituality 4.Public Theology (PT): to consolidate a Public Theology based on the question of public ethics, revisiting the theological notion of human dignity. This has a strong correlation with the public agenda of human rights, and unfolds in the task of dialogue between eco-theology and Agenda 2030, as well as the deepening of interreligious “space”. The strategic plan aims to ensure CITER's national and international visibility, contributing to the creation of a reference centre in the fields of Theology and Religious Studies, dedicated to interdisciplinary research. Specifically, we plan to: a.Create the “Caring for our Common Home cluster” to consolidate transdisciplinary research between Theology, Religious Studies and other areas of knowledge, committed to the 2030 Agenda b.Stimulate and expand national and international networks and partnerships, to promote exchange and mobility opportunities for researchers. c.Promote young researchers in leadership and participation in projects, publications and other outputs with international outreach and impact d.Strengthen advanced training programmes in conjunction with the Fac. of Theology, Católica Doctoral School and other partners e.Promote initiatives for the communication of research in non-scientific communities f.Organise scientific events that promote and expand CITER’s networks g.Promote theological research and religious studies to develop tools for understanding the processes of religious diversification
