Abstract

CIFI2D is a research unit of the national R&D system, funded by FCT (UI/05913/2020) and housed initially at FADEUP, but which recently created a hub at COFAC/ U Lusófona, in line with integration, along with recent years, from some of its members at CIFI2D. CIFI2D operates in Sports Sciences and its interfaces. It aims to conduct research, train researchers in this field, and transfer and apply existing knowledge and knowledge to different contexts and professions. In this sense, it carries out: i) research in various areas of Sport and related areas; ii) training and training of postgraduate students, specialists, and technicians; iii) continuous education and scientific dissemination; iv) consultancy, evaluation, and diagnosis in various areas; and v) services and interventions in the community. The current proposal envisions that most of the above activities will be based on Knowledge Transfer Teams, where researchers, professionals, target populations, and stakeholders interact while searching for science-based solutions. CIFI2D uses other disciplines that can contribute to enriching the multidisciplinary analysis of its research objects. Recognizing Sport as a complex cultural and social reality that is essential to study systemically to analyze multidimensional and multidisciplinary problems, CIFI2D privileges the interaction and sharing of approaches coming from different but complementary perspectives and positions, benefiting from an extensive and diverse network of national and international collaborators. CIFI2D's interests are diverse, ranging from issues of a cultural and social nature that shape Sport in its scope to structural and functional problems associated with the organization, management, and evaluation of Sport-specific teaching/learning processes in different contexts (school, performance, recreation, and leisure, or re-education and rehabilitation), and also the interactions between the participants. Questions about the actors in the sporting process are also the target of CIFI2D, which seeks to study the variables that allow maximizing their levels of performance, satisfaction, and well-being, but also the extent and depth the benefits of this participation. Despite the diversity, in general, CIFI2D's interests may be grouped around three significant vectors: Education, Health, and Performance. CIFI2D aims to reinforce the conditions for high-quality research, in material and financial terms (by applying to competitive funding) and in terms of human resources, as it is crucial to create scientific employment opportunities for our students. In addition, CIFI2D aims to strengthen and expand collaboration with prestigious national and international colleagues and institutions, disseminate the results of its scientific activity in the most important scientific journals, and transfer the knowledge produced to the community.
