Abstract

CEFAGE is a research unit that brings together some of the best researchers in Management and Economics from various institutions. Its main objective for the period from 2025 to 2029 is to consolidate and expand its research activities to strengthen its position as one of the leading Portuguese research units in the fields of Management and Economics, and to reinforce its international recognition. During the execution of the activity plan, CEFAGE members will be organized into 3 research groups. The first group will predominantly focus on the themes of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Operations. The second group on Finance and Accounting themes. The third group on various themes in Economics. This organization reflects our objective of increasing the national and international visibility and impact of CEFAGE in areas where we have proven competencies. To achieve these objectives, CEFAGE will continue to provide its members with the necessary means and incentives for the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the areas of Management and Economics. It will also continue to organize technical and scientific events open to the entire community, seeking to create an environment that promotes scientific creativity. While high-quality fundamental research remains our priority, we will also value applied scientific production aimed at supporting policies and strategies in key sectors of the national economy or aimed at supporting the achievement of the UN SDG. The publication of high-quality research and the focus on key sectors of the national economy or on major societal challenges, will also be the fundamental pillars of our strategy to increase the number of funded research projects. Participation in national and international networks will also leverage our ability to form strong and successful partnerships. Our activity plan is also ambitious regarding graduate education as we aim to enhance our capacity to attract excellent national and international Ph.D. students, and increase the number of articles published in top journals based on their theses. To this end, CEFAGE is applying to the FCT scholarships program and will strive to create a collaborative platform (Ph.D. Network) comprising doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, industry experts, and the overall community. With the creation of this network, we aim to deepen knowledge sharing, create research opportunities, promote the academic development of young researchers, and encourage the transfer of knowledge to the community. In short, our strategy for the future is one of consolidation and continuous improvement, based on values such as quality, ethics, interdisciplinarity, innovation, and relevance, supported by a governance model grounded in rigor, honesty, and transparency.
