Abstract
The increasing demand for programming education has given rise to several Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) focused on introductory programming [9]. However, due to the large number of enrolled students,
one of the main challenges in these courses is to provide valuable and personalized feedback to students.
The goal of this work is to propose and develop new technological solutions to improve the current state-of-the-art on providing feedback to students in Introductory Programming Exercises using Automated Reasoning.
Our work will focus on:
(1) automated generation of personalized input examples that expose an error in a tentative solution,
(2) providing automated personalized hints of correction to students and
(3) implement and evaluate our approach in terms of correction usefulness in an interactive teaching setting at Instituto Superior Técnico.
As a result, we will provide a better educational experience to those who cannot attend regular programs for work-related or financial reasons.
